Indian startup ecosystem still lacks resources, but it is catching up gradually. US and other developed countries have University research centres which are funded heavily by corporates for setting up labs and data centres thus helping in the AI foundation model creation. The development of an AI Foundational Model requires substantial resources and investments. However, one significant challenge faced by AI founders is the absence of robust AI infrastructure. Now there are more than 1500+ AI startups in India with over $4B+ funding. There is a high exodus of top engineers from FAANG companies in the last couple of years to move back to India and build from scratch. India has a long history of giving the best engineers to the world and Indian engineers lead the way globally in the AI/ML space as well. In the last few years, the Indian startup ecosystem has grown by leaps and bounces and competing with the best in the world.
